WIDL 92.1 FM — Game of the Week Replay: Reese Rockets roll past Marlette on Homecoming | September 26, 2025
Announcers: Scott Bolsby & Landyn Schott
The WIDL crew was under the Friday night lights in Reese as the Rockets stormed back from an early deficit to knock off Marlette 28-14 and cap Homecoming with a statement win.
After the Red Raiders opened the second quarter with a 1-yard touchdown from Adam Wilcox, senior Deegan Carter exploded for three long scoring runs — 69, 34 and 64 yards — to lead Reese to its third victory of the season. Carter finished the night with 184 rushing yards on just eight carries, three touchdowns, six tackles and an interception. Quarterback Steele Stricker added a 32-yard touchdown strike to Carson Soper, while Emma Fisher was crowned homecoming queen during halftime festivities.
Marlette’s Owen Anderson carried 23 times for 127 yards, Payne Degelbeck added 75 yards and a late touchdown, and Trey Lester completed all three of his pass attempts. But the big plays from Carter proved too much to overcome as Reese stayed in the Big Thumb White Division title hunt.

WIDL 92.1 FM Game of the Week Recap — Kingston vs. Deckerville🎙 Broadcast team: Scott Bolsby & Landyn Schott
In a clash of unbeaten rivals, the Deckerville Eagles edged out the Kingston Cardinals 22-14 Friday night at Rea Field to secure at least a share of the Big Thumb Conference Blue Division title.
Kingston fell behind early as Deckerville capitalized on penalties and missed opportunities, taking a 15-0 halftime lead. The Cardinals mounted a strong second-half comeback behind senior quarterback Tanner James, who threw for 82 yards and two touchdowns — one each to Peyton Harrington and Nick Cummings — but time ran out on their rally.
Cummings also led Kingston’s defense with 12 total tackles, while Harrington added six and contributed 57 receiving yards. Despite the loss, head coach Eric Hartsell praised his seniors and emphasized the team’s playoff focus, saying:
“This doesn’t define our season. There’s still a whole lot of football left, and we’re going to fix our mistakes and move forward.”
The Cardinals (6-1, 5-1) travel to Dryden this Friday before wrapping up the regular season at home against Marion.
