The WIDL 92.1 FM crew rolled into Sebewaing Township for the 32nd Annual Sugar Bowl — and fans were treated to a classic. Unionville-Sebewaing snapped a four-year losing streak to Reese with a 24-22 victory, grinding out the win behind a powerhouse rushing night from senior Brady Green.
Green carried the Patriots with 250 yards and two touchdowns on 40 carries, setting the tone early with a 14-yard score and adding a 22-yard touchdown in the third quarter. Quarterback Davis Peters added a 6-yard touchdown pass to Maddox Nitz just before halftime, while Nitz and DJ Harrison each recorded seven tackles on defense. Bryson Finkbeiner chipped in 40 rushing yards, three tackles and a key fumble recovery, with Gracy Bolzman and Kasen Fiebig adding four tackles apiece.
For Reese, Deegan Carter ran for 92 yards on 14 carries, Steele Stricker added 44 rushing yards, a 10-yard touchdown pass to Luke Messing, and a late scoring run that kept the Rockets in the game. But USA’s ground attack and clock control proved too much, as the Patriots secured their first Sugar Bowl victory since 2020 — sending their home crowd into celebration.

The WIDL broadcast team headed to Cass City for the annual M-81 Clash, where the Red Hawks extended their dominance over rival Caro with a 33-6 victory — their 13th straight in the series.
Sophomore quarterback Preston Dorland led the charge, accounting for four total touchdowns — three on the ground and one through the air — while also picking off a pass on defense. Will Perry added both a rushing and receiving touchdown and paced the defense with eight tackles as Cass City’s homecoming crowd celebrated another statement win.
Caro broke a long drought against the Red Hawks’ defense, scoring for the first time in the rivalry since 2018 when Mason Henry found Luke Joslyn on a 7-yard touchdown strike. Joslyn led the Tigers in both receiving and tackles, while Tyler Enos and Owen Creutz each chipped in defensively.
